Definitively a must be read book for all interested in warfare from the second half of XIV till the end of XV century. It is perfectly written. It includes all the protagonist who walked around Italy in those centuries, their armies, some of their tactics and an accurate description of how the condotta invention informed the war in Italy. It’s a fundamental book also for having torn off a lot a false myths circulating on that period. Hundreds of details on specific campaigns and battles, even if not very thorough.

Sicuramente un libro da comprare e leggere per chiunque voglia comprendere meglio le dinamiche, le ragioni e le modalità di combattimento degli eserciti italiani dalla fine del ‘300 alla fine del secolo successivo, periodo in cui il modello di riferimento era quello della famosa “condotta”. Tanti protagonisti, battaglie e informazioni rendono il libro molto interessante e mai pedante. Sicuramente non è molto approfondito a livello di singolo episodio ma da un libro che vuole inquadrare il fenomeno nel suo complesso non si puo pretendere.
